Beliau menyampaikan di era keterbukaan informasi dan perkembangan teknologi dicirikan dengan pesatnya pertumbuhan dan penggunaan ponsel pintar yang telah menjadi bagian gaya hidup masyarakat. Seiring dengan perkembangan tersebut, media massa juga bermetamorfosis menggunakan media digital karena seiring dengan perkembangan zaman, media konvensional mulai ditinggalkan. Diperkuat dengan infrastruktur telekomunikasi yang dibagun pemerintah di seluruh pelosok negeri, memudahkan masyarakat untuk mengakses informasi. Mulai dari berselencar di dunia maya tanpa batas ruang dan waktu, memperkaya wawasan diri dengan informasi terkini hingga meng-unggah eksistensi diri di media sosial.
Berdasarkan data yang dirilis Hootsuite pada Januari tahun 2022 pengguna Internet di Indonesia sebesar 204,7 juta (73,7 persen dari total populasi di Indonesia). Sementara pengguna media social aktif sebesar 191,4 juta (68,9 persen dari total populasi). Dari sisi penggunaan waktu, rata – rata setiap hari waktu menggunakan internet 8 jam, 36 menit dan rata – rata waktu mengunakan media social melalui perangkat apapun 3 jam, 41 menit. Dengan demikian arus digitalisasi ini tidak terbendung dan akan terus membesar sesuai dengan perkembangan zaman terutama bidang perekonomian.
Berbicara tentang sektor perekonomian, Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) sering dianggap sebagai tulang punggung ekonomi kerakyatan karena kontribusinya yang besar dalam menciptakan lapangan kerja, meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat, dan memperkuat ketahanan ekonomi lokal.
Peran UMKM sangat penting bagi perekonomian Indonesia, yaitu memberi kontribusi terhadap Produk Domestik Bruto (PDB) Indonesia sebesar lebih dari 60% atau sekitar Rp. 8.573 Triliun setiap tahunnya. Selain itu, UMKM juga menyerap 97% total tenaga kerja Indonesia atau 116 juta orang. UMKM memiliki peran penting dalam konteks ekonomi kerakyatan. Mereka menjadi tulang punggung ekonomi kerakyatan dengan beberapa alasan:
1. Penciptaan Lapangan Kerja
2. Peningkatan Pendapatan Masyarakat
3. Meningkatkan Distribusi Kekayaan
4. Pembangunan Lokal dan Regional
